Tutors on the Hill
Chapel Hill · Triangle area · Alamance County · Online

Every course is a hill. We know this one.

Taught by students who just took the course.

A small bench of UNC-Chapel Hill students tutoring the AP, IB, and college courses they just finished, in person around Chapel Hill and online — priced so a family can book weekly and not flinch.

Online, in person across the Triangle, and in Alamance County. $40 to $70 an hour, and every rate is on this page. We've already climbed it.

Specialized tutoring.

Each of our tutors has recently experienced and excelled in what they offer. They know professors’ styles and how to tackle them.

What we do

  • Same tutor, every week. No rotating strangers.

  • One course deep. A tutor takes a course number, not a subject area.

  • Recency as the credential. Nobody tutors a course they haven’t recently aced.

  • Honest scoping. If four sessions won’t fix it, we say so before you pay.

What we don’t

  • Homework completion. We work problems with students, not for them.

  • Write essays. On IB and college applications we coach and edit; the words stay theirs.

  • Sell packages nobody needs. No 40-hour minimums.

  • Guarantee a score. Anyone who does is lying to you.

Three UNC students who’ve made A- or above in listed courses.

Every tutor takes a course number, not a subject area. Ask for the transcript line and we’ll show you.

Questions families ask

Do you tutor in person in Chapel Hill?
Yes. We meet in person anywhere within 12 miles of Chapel Hill, including Carrboro, Durham, Hillsborough, Pittsboro and Cary, and in Alamance County (Burlington, Graham, Mebane, Elon) with Anthony. Online sessions run on Google Meet.
Who are the tutors?
Current UNC-Chapel Hill students: Joseph Trosch (economics and business at Kenan-Flagler), Elliott Millen (chemistry) and Anthony Chandrasena (physics and math). Each one only tutors courses they recently aced.
Can you help with a specific UNC course?
Yes, that’s the point. We tutor by course number, so a CHEM 261 student gets someone who just took CHEM 261. The full list is on the courses page.
Do you tutor high school AP and IB students?
Yes. We cover AP and IB math, sciences, economics, English and history whether they’re at Chapel Hill High, East Chapel Hill High, Carrboro High or anywhere else in the Triangle, plus IB internal assessments and the Extended Essay.
How much does a tutor cost?
$40 to $60 an hour online and $50 to $70 in person, depending on the course. The 20-minute intro call is free, and if the first session isn’t a fit you don’t pay for it.
